Now Robert Mueller, the US special counsel, could request British accounts after Democrats in the States raised concerns over Russian money.
But a senior Turnberry source said: “The very idea of Russian involvement here is crazy.
“The Trump family bought and built this entire property with their own cash.
“They didn’t even use financing.” Trump swooped to buy Turnberry in 2014 and immediately set about a wholescale rennovation of the property.
More than £ 200million has been spent on rebuilding the hotel, a new signature ballroom named after the President, and redesigned golf courses.
Trump resigned from parent company DJT Holdings before his inauguration to the White House in 2017 and transferred his assets to a trust.
His son, who led the rebuild of the property, has now assumed official control of Turnberry.
When asked by the Post about the alleged Russian link, Eric said: “There is zero truth to this nonsense.”
