Arthur Street Kitchen plans open- air music

-

McPherson said: “We would like to have entertainment for customers in the garden this summer.”

He said the music would not be too loud as the business is aware of residents living in the Arthur Street area of the town.

Appearing before the South Ayrshire Council licensing board, he added: “We are hoping to reinvigorate Arthur Street. It is starting to come to life again.”

Board chair Craig Mackay said: “Noise is the main issue here.

“We would be looking for a noise report.”

Mr McPherson said it would be background music featuring a musician playing acoustic guitar, for example.

Ayr manager John Neil told the meeting no noise complaints were made last summer.

The restaurant and pub also want to have a large screen to show sport and films.

Arthur Street Kitchen is based in the former West of the Moon premises and beside the Vinyl night club.

Councillor Mackay said: “The West of the Moon was a family space. What you are proposing is quite different.”

Mr Neil said Arthur Street Kitchen still caters for children.

He said: “We want to cater for as many different people as we can.”

The decision will be made at a later meeting following a visit to the venue.
