Kevin is best sports physio
An Ayr physio is celebrating after landing a top national award.
Kevin Maclellan has been crowned Best Sports Physio in Scotland.
Kevin, 48, who runs his own practice in the town’s Alloway Place, took the accolade at the prestigious GHP Private Healthcare Awards.
The former Ayr United and Rangers physio set up the clinic in June 2017, and is among the top 10 per cent of qualified physiotherapists in the UK.
He was nominated for the award by patients.
The dad- of- three, who now lives in Coylton, said: “When I worked for Rangers I had the opportunity to travel the world with the team, but I felt I had more to give.
“I grew up in Ayr and I’m delighted to be based back in the town providing a quality, bespoke physio service to get local patients back to health.
“For years I’d imagined what my own physio clinic would be like, but the premises had to be right.
“So when Alloway Place became available, I put all the plans in motion very quickly.
“Although I had the clinical experience and the drive, there were still things I didn’t know about setting up a business.
“I got advice and support from Business Gateway, as well as a Start- Up grant from the council’s AMBITION programme.
“Thanks to this, I had the doors open within a month. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind but I have the best job in the world and I’m loving every minute of it.”
