Familiar face takes on Malin Court role

-

A hotel, care home and restaurant has welcomed a new general manager.

David Jack, 55, took up the post at Malin Court in Maidens from former GM Joan Dunlop. But dad- of- two David is no stranger to the multifunction facility as it has been part of his family for decades.

The former finance manager said: “My father was involved with Malin Court when it started in 1973.

“He passed away eight years ago and I was then invited to join the board so I’ve known it since I was a wee boy.

“My grandparents lived in it and my parents lived here as well.

“I was just at that stage in my career and the opportunity arose where I thought I’d really like to come and see how I can help Malin move forward.”

Malin Court is home to care home residents but is also a hotel and has the Cotters restaurant.

It sits between Turnberry and the quiet village of Maidens, boasting views of the West Coast, and is supported by a committee of businessmen led by Boyd Tunnock.

David added: “It’s not just a care home. It’s a whole organisation where things are happening. The place is quite buzzing.

“It’s an unusual business because you’ve got the care home, hotel and restaurant.

“Every day is different. You never know quite what you’re coming in to.

“What I love about Malin Court is it is so diverse, so varied and you meet so many different people.”
