Talk of the town from our social media

-

We broke the news that Ayr’s HMV will be closing, much to the annoyance of our readers.

Jonathan Maclellan said: “Three stores to close in the whole of Scotland.

“Two in Glasgow which will leave only one store in Glasgow, and, yes, you’ve guessed it good old Ayr is the third.

“All of the other stores are to stay open in Scotland.

“What is the SNP head of South Ayrshire Council saying/ doing about this?

“Nothing as usual I’m guessing!

“Yet another store in Ayr closing and we see nothing from this SNP- led council.

“People can’t park, the high street needs to be opened up to two way traffic again and free parking on the high street for two hours like Prestwick.”

But Willie Bone replied to that comment: “The SNP and the local council cannot force customers to buy CDs, Blu- Ray discs or even vinyl, if most people are now streaming video and audio tracks!

“HMV merchandise is gradually shrinking into a niche market, better catered for in cities with larger populated catchment areas.

“The recent heart- warming news story of a vinyl revival is actually a mini- renaissance and not much more.”

Andrena Dickie said: “Thanks to online shopping killing everything in the town.”

Steven Mackie remained upbeat, saying: “Of course it’s a shame for the workers and a store closing is always sad.

“However, in saying that, it opens up a space for another business to go in there that may be more popular.”

Forbes Robertson has launched his brand new pet crematorium.

Jayne McMillan said: “My wee dog has got cancer ( lymphoma) he’s undergoing chemo but we’re not sure how long he’s got left. “We are all devastated.

“I’ll definitely consider this service.”

Bob Shields reckons that the National Trust owe an apology for their letter published about the state of the Burns Cottage.

Rita Nicol Bar r said: “Wholeheartedly agree with Bob Shields, I am a family member, and we spend a lot of money yearly in the properties.

“Perhaps they should take a pay cut and fund it, but it’s really just sickened me, and I am in the mood to cancel my membership.”
