Windhoist powers to table glory
An Irvine- based firm has been named among Britain’s fast growing for international sales.
Windhoist has built more than 6000 wind turbines in Europe, Morocoo and Australia for the likes of Siemens and Nordex, boasting overseas sales to £ 34.1m, on total sales of £ 47.4m in 2017.
The company has now made the annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table which ranks Britain’s mid- market private companies with the quick growing international sales.
A total of six companies headquartered in Scotland made the list, with Windhoist – who placed 114th – one of two new entrants north of the border.
The Scottish stars have grown their international sales by an average of 57 per cent a year over the last two years to a total of £ 783m.
Together they employ more than 16,200 people.
Scotland’s top- ranked company is Glasgow- based City Facilities Management ( No. 50), which was founded by former Celtic director Sir Willie Haughey in 1985, and installs and maintains air conditioning and fridges in supermarkets worldwide. Growth in Australia helped boost exports to £ 378.5m, on total sales of £ 821.7m, in 2017.
The league table programme is sponsored by HSBC, DHL Express and Oracle NetSuite, and compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford- based research and networking events firm.
