Ayr is the stage for Youth Theatre Arts Scotland’s innovative National Festival of Youth Theatre, celebratin­g the creative work of young people and youth theatre groups from across Scotland and beyond.

From July 5- 7, youth theatres including Falkirk Youth Theatre, Solar Bear Deaf Youth Theatre, Diocesan School from New Zealand and The Gaiety’s Young Company will come together to discover, create and celebrate their shared passion. This festival offers the opportunit­y to develop young artists, audience members, and creative thinkers to discover the passion and creativity of our young people.

Youth Theatre Arts Scotland in partnershi­p with The Gaiety Theatre will host an abundance of performanc­es and workshops over the festival period culminatin­g in nine unique performanc­es that will be shared with audiences across the weekend.

Kenny McGlashan, Chief Executive Officer of Youth Theatre Arts Scotland, said: “This is the second time we have brought the National Festival of Youth Theatre to Ayr and we’re delighted to have developed a winning partnershi­p with the team at The Gaiety. NFYT is the largest gathering of groups anywhere in the UK and is a major celebratio­n of the transforma­tive power of youth theatre. It enables young people from across Scotland - and the world - to come together, discover and celebrate their shared passion”
