Racing is firmly back in the saddle at Ayr

-

Smith trained Glasses Up has the credentials to win this. He reeled off three wins at the track around this time last year and on his reappearance for the season last month he finished third .

That was a good run and it pleased Mike who will be hoping that will have brought him on and he should give a really good account of himself on Sunday.

The aforementioned Danny Tudhope will be keen to get on the scoresheet at the track which was

once his ‘ local’. His guv’nor David O’Meara has several runners throughout the day and as Danny will have his pick of them I’d be amazed if he didn’t have at least one winner.

That winner could well be Myklachi, the winner of an apprentice selling handicap at Ripon last month. That was only the three year- old’s sixth run. And with the help of Danny here- and without a penalty because it was a boys’ race he won- he will be hard to beat here.

A small but select field will contest the Book Scottish Sun Ladies Day Handicap over five furlongs at 3.35pm and this is a tricky puzzle to solve. Roger Fell has entered two – Dapper Man and Harome while sprint king Paul Midgley is set to saddle Nibras Again who won at York on Saturday. Jim Goldie thinks a lot of Primo’s Comet while Noel Wilson’s Our Place In Loule is capable. This for me can go the way of whichever horse Roger Fell runs and I think that will be Dapper Man.

Some of the leading amateur riders in the country will be in action in the final race of the afternoon, the Enter Now For The Ayr Classic Run Handicap, run over five furlongs.

Trainer Marjorie Fife was quick to book Joanna Mason for B Fifty Two and the 10 year- old has been

running well of late and if he came out of a race at Catterick earlier in the week none the worse then he would be one to be on this weekend. After Sunday’s action we race again on Monday, the first of four consecutive Monday racedays at the track.

The feature race is the £ 15,000
