Racing is a sport that has appeal to all ages and on Sunday some of the youngest racegoers in the country will converge on Ayr for the first of two Family Racedays in July.

In addition to the seven races on the card there will be lots of family fun and entertainment.

A l l t h e c h i l d re n ’ s attractions are free and under 18s go free if accompanied by an adult.

There is even an exciting mascot race at 1pm before the first race proper and around 10 mascots will line up in a race won last year by Morton’s Cappie The Cat who will be defending his crown.

Other mascots lining up will include Ayr United’s Pandamonium, Hamish The Dog from the Scottish Building Soc i e t y , Ay r Racecourse’s Neigh Chance, Danny The Domino from Domino Pizza and Ruggie from race sponsors PTS Clean.

The gates will open at noon and children will be able to meet their favourite princesses and superheroes including Captain America, Spiderman, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Merida, Evie and Elsa.

In addition, there will be a special Face Painting Studio, glitter tattooists, arts and crafts station, creative clay workshops, a sticky wall inflatable, photo booth and dress up station, an exciting treasure hunt, a lego station, an amazing escape tent and a display of vintage fire engines.

But the fun and excitement doesn’t stop there.

There will be a beat the goalie competition featuring some young Ayr United players, fairground rides, a petting zoo, rodeo bull and a wipeout simulator game.

And in a first for the Racecourse there will be a Mysterious Escape Tent.

Would be jockeys will be able to test their skills on an ecquisizer while wearing some famous jockey silks and there will be members of the Regiment of Scotland and Royal Air Force present.

All in all a cracking day of family entertainment awaits and there’s fun on offer for everyone.
