Cops find child porn in flat raid

Pictures show girls as young as 10

-

Fiscal depute Andrew Lazzarin told the court: “It’s two brothers which have been investigated separately and this investigation did not conclude until the conclusion of the brother, who was on indictment.

“There was one computer recovered from the house and it was analysed and was used by the accused.

“Within the computer there was a programme from a folder and hard drive and these are considered by the Crown and defence experts as files being copied at Caldwell’s home and sent to an account of the accused.

“Copies were made in April 2017 and those images were maintained until November 2017, when they were seized by police.”

Mr Lazzarin told the court that eight indecent images were found featured various girls, some as young as 10.

He said they were in various poses but the focus of the images was on their genitals.

Mr Lazzarin continued: “The accused was traced and attended on July 5 after the machine had been analysed.

“He was taken to the police office and interviewed.

“He spoke about downloading the images to use as base character models for a computer game but there was nothing on the machine to suggest he had been working on a computer game.”

Sheriff Scott Pattison deferred sentence on Caldwell until next month to obtain a social work report, including a risk assessment.

Caldwell, who was granted bail until his sentencing, will also be subject to sexual offender notification requirements.
