Sounds of the Strip come to Gaiety stage

Spatz & Co will take centre stage at The Gaiety on Saturday with their show ‘ One Night in Las Vegas’.

The nine- piece band, who were designed for stage and theatre performanc­es, are now in their third year of touring shows and will visit The Gaiety for the first time.

‘ One Night in Las Vegas’ features the songs and melodies from numerous venues in Las Vegas from over the years.

It goes from big band to blues, reggae to swing, classic Sinatra standards to guitar riffs from numbers by Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana an The Eagles.

Spatz & Co members have over 200 years of profession­al stage performanc­es under their belts.

Each member is a bandleader in his own right.

Musical director Gordon McNeil, on tenor sax, travelled the world as MD on cruise ships and has played festivals as far afield as Las Vegas and Thailand.

Gus Andrews, on trumpet, has toured with The Drifters, worked with Deep Purple and spent 20 years in New Mexico playing Latin American music.

And lead guitarist Malcolm MacFarlane toured internatio­nally with the jazz/ funk band Shakatak, has recorded with Jamie Cullum, and has accompanie­d Carol Kidd, Jacqui Dankworth, and Curtis Stigers.

Making up the band are Cameron Jay, Dick Lee, Tom Gordon, Andy Mitchell, Iain Mathieson and Roy Mac.

‘ One Night in Las Vegas’ has regularly enjoyed sold- out venues, gaining an enthusiast­ic following from a wide age group.
