Taste of sweet success with Pudding Chare

She was always up in the front group under young jockey Connor Murtagh and won by half a length from Linda Perratt’s Let Right Be Done.

The totepool Handicap on Monday over a mile was won by a neck by Wild Hope trained by Kevin Ryan and Ridden by Kevin Stott.

The three year- old led after a furlong and was not for stopping and crossed the line in front of Tadaawol.

Roger Fell was the trainer in form on the opening day of the two day meeting on Sunday saddling a double with Harome and Global Spirit.

The latter won the seven furlong handicap in the hands of Ben Curtis justifying 11- 8 favouritis­m while Harome, also ridden by Curtis, won handily in the mile and a half furlong handicap seeing off the challenge of Nibras Again.

Sunday’s feature race, the Class 3 mile handicap was won by course specialist Nicholas T.

He was winning for the first time in two years for trainer Jim Goldie and jockey Ben Robinson and did so in style, coming with a late thrust to win by a neck.

This was his fourth win at the track. Dumfriessh­ire- based trainer Iain Jardine was on the mark in the 1m 2f handicap with Five Helmets 9- 2, ridden by Jamie Gormley and this three year- old formerly trained by Tom Dascombe was following up a recent Hamilton win and could go to greater things as he looks an improving sort.

The opening maiden race saw some big stables represente­d and the prize went to the Karl Burke trained Macho Time, ridden by Clifford Lee.

He led over two furlongs out and held off the challenge of Kevin Ryan’s Streaker to win by a length and a quarter.
