-

Road resurfacing will be done on three sections of the A713 Ayr to Dalmellington road during August.

And the work on two of the sections will mean weekend road closures.

The section at Polnessan will be closed on August 10- 11 and August 17- 18 between 7am and 6pm. It will open from approximately noon to 1pm on each of these days.

The Patna to Waterside stretch will be closed from Monday, August 12, to Wednesday, August 21, from 7pm to 6am but will be open during the weekend of August 17- 18.

There will be signed diversion routes in place during the closures.

The diversion will go along the A713 to the B742 Coylton, the A70 through Coalhall, A76 Dettingen roundabout, Cumnock to New Cumnock and the B741 to Dalmellington, Broomknowe, Gateside Road.

Motorists travelling south on the A713 to the steam train events at the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre, Waterside, on August 11 and 18 will have to use this diversion route.

Work on the Carsphairn Road at Dalmellington will last from August 19- 30 but the route will remain open under convoy.

No waiting restrictions will be in place on Bellsbank Road and Carsphairn Road during this work.

Drivers will not be able to turn right from Merrick Drive to Carsphairn Road.

A spokesman for Ayrshire Roads Alliance sad: “The A713 work is part of an extensive programme to improve the condition of the road network.

“To carry out these works safely and efficiently and to protect the roads operatives and the travelling public it will be necessary to close two of these sections and introduce additional traffic management measures.”
