This year’s running marks the 30th anniversary of the popular bash, which organisers are pledging to make bigger and better than ever.

Fun runs, football competitions and a family ceilidh are among the attractions in the build- up to the big day.

And the climax of the celebrations comes on Saturday.

A pipe band and drum majors contest, Highland dancing, heavy events, tug- o- war, side stalls and entertainment will all be on offer.

Riders of the Storm will be riding into Dundonald for two stunt displays in the afternoon.

The games open with a street procession at noon, which includes the Games Queen Rebecca Stevenson and her attendants Holly Heron and Lily Mark.

This year will also see Cameron McFarlane, 8, lead the street procession as Junior Chieftain.

The event will close with a massed pipe bands parade through the village, led by Chieftain Kevin McAulay.

We hope our 30th anniversary games will be fantastic

Dundonald Games Society chairperson Elaine McClure said: “The society recognises the hard work, dedication and determination of all past and present office bearers and committee members who made the games the success it is today.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all our entrants and guests back to our 30th anniversary games, which we hope will be fantastic for both competitors and spectators.

“It will be a pleasure to welcome all our pipe bands and Highland dancers.”

The event takes place at Dundonald Castle and entry is free, with free car parking and shuttle buses available all day from Olympic Business Park.
