Showtime as talented children take centre stage

Youngsters wow crowds with their theatre production

- ABI SMILLIE

The wonderful world of the theatre wowed bright eyed youngsters at St Columba Church Halls.

It was lights, camera, action as the church’s Showstoppers Holiday Club entertained over 30 children, helping them explore the story of God’s big plan for us all.

Each day featured a programme of songs, games, snacks and story time in the decorated space complete with lights, curtains and a miniature stage.

Challenges, including a messy one that saw leaders get covered in shaving foam and alphabetti spaghetti, brought out the youngsters’ competitive side.

And by the end of the week a large number of children could recite the memory verse for each day.

A church spokesman said: “This year we had an excellent team of various skills, talents and experience that meant that the kids were totally engaged and enthusiastic throughout the week.

“On the final day of the holiday club we celebrated together as we invited parents and younger and older siblings to join us for a BBQ and some Renaldo’s ice cream!”

The church are already looking forward to welcoming youngsters to their next holiday club in Easter.

From April 13- 17, Mega Makers will share the gospel of Matthew in a world of invention and scientific experiment.

• St Columba’s Kids also restarts after the summer break on Sunday, August 25 between 10 and 11am for all children from pre- school to P7 for a mixture of songs, games, challenges, snack, stories and more.
