Build station at Newton

-

So we are told everything is on the table with regards to a new station.

Ayr Station was of course built long before the motor car.

It is now all but landlocked with no significant park and ride facilities, as is the case with the entire metropolitan area of Ayr and Prestwick, in which the majority of SAC residents reside.

Whatever the other issues of the hotel and space freed up by the demolition of Burns House, the reality is nothing changes.

The station remains less than perfect and compromised.

The practical, cost effective and sensible option is to develop Newton on Ayr, where there is amble brownfield land unsuitable for housing that could be readily made into a modern transport interchange servicing residents and visitors alike.

Ayr Station of course could be retained but simply not as the main station.

Maybe rebranded as Ayr South or something similar. And the amenity of Burns Statute Square retained for future generations.

My plea to this council is to start thinking strategically, stop destroying value with their wrecking ball and to focus on developing the failing local economy to the benefit of all. Robert Bennie, Ayr

DejaVu Ever get that old feeling It’s called “Deja Vu “Well, it’s happening again Believe me , it’s True

The Belleisle Hotel

Is to what I refer

The Owner can’t pay For the needed repair So. what happens now ? Well.. the Council will pay It’s happened before That’s the usual way.

The owner smiles in his photo

In the Post last week

Well... all I can say is

Hasn’t HE got a cheek.

No worries for him

He’s “All right Jack “

I wonder, will the Council

Ever get OUR money back

I guess no insurance

Is going to intervene

Looks like yet again

No one else is on the scene

Great staff at Station 12 I would like to thank the NHS workers for their great work.

I was in station 12 at Ayr Hospital for two weeks and the nurses and tea ladies were fantastic. They put up with some abuse.

I was taken into the A& E where the staff were excellent too, as were the ambulance transport

Some people don’t appreciate what these people do.

Once again thanks for everything. Sandy Carswell, John Street, Ayr

Thanks to whistle blower I would like to thank the whistleblower in last week’s Ayrshire Post.

They are absolutely spot on about what is happening in the Jura Ward.

The senior mangement need to take some action.

They said in the article that they have not received any complaints about this ward,

That is wrong - as complaints have been made.

Would you creditit? I have been scanning my Post for any updates on the campaign to establish a CAB in South Ayrshire, and came across an interesting development.

It seems East Ayrshire CAB are to have Universal Credit advisors in Jobcentres in Ayr and Girvan.

So despite the assurances given by South Ayrshire that the stream of advice services they fund and run, why are East Ayrshire CAB having to provide this service in South Ayrshire? Has East Ayrshire identified a gap in advice services within South Ayrshire?

However perhaps if there were true independent advice service South Ayrshire would not benefit from the ignorance of local tax payers who since 2017 have failed to claimed to claim £ 1,682,000 million in council tax reduction scheme.

So because there is no true independent advice services, South Ayrshire has over the past 24 months had a £ 70,000 monthly windfall in extra council tax it should not have had. Has the penny dropped yet ?

Sems it is not in the fiscal interests of the council for you to know what you are legally entitled to.

And by not having advice services outwith their control, may the odds be ever in their favour, w hich by the way they are.
