Three arrested after beauty salon raids

Three men have been arrested after a string of beauty salons were targeted last week.

They have been arrested and charged with theft and various road traffic offences after police received reports of suspicious males entering hairdressi­ng premises around the area last week.

Three men were charged after police were involved in a high speed chase through the streets of Maybole.

Police later tracked down three men on farmland outside Maybole.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that three men have been arrested and charged with theft and various road traffic offences after reports had been received by police of suspicious males entering hairdressi­ng premises around the area.

“Descriptio­ns were circulated and a short time later were spotted by police in Maybole, where they fled in a vehicle and failed to stop for officers.

“All three were later traced on farmland outside Maybole after crashing their vehicle and running off.

“Police Scotland Air Support also assisted in the detection of the men.”

Three men were expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Po l i c e l a u n c h e d a n investigat­ion after beautician­s across Ayr and Prestwick were concerned for their safety after a man was seen lurking around attempting to loot the parlours.

Studio Mmak on Prestwick’s Ayr Road allegedly fell victim last Monday, leaving them with no option but to secure their doors.

F o r c e d i n t o l o c k d o w n , StudioMmak workers were left terrified after the ordeal and told clients to chap the door to be let in for appointmen­ts.

They warned other salons to remain vigilant and be on their guard.

Two days later on Wednesday, HMC Makeup Studios in Ayr were also said to have been allegedly targeted, describing the experience as “horrible”.

An online post said: “We’ve just had a horrible experience with two men who have been robbing salons throughout Ayr and Prestwick. Please be careful of these men and if anyone sees them today please let us know.”
