Be inspired to dance like

-

As we await the final line- up for this year’s ‘ Strictly Come Dancing’ you may be inspired to take to the dance floor yourself.

Dancing is a great activity, with every age group benefiting from learning some new steps.

The social aspects and the health benefits of taking up dancing can transform your life, giving you confidence and keeping you fit too. Dance is for any age. As long as you have a willingness to learn something new and are prepared to put a little work in while having great fun, it is the perfect pastime for adults too.

So why not follow in the footsteps of the Strictly stars and set yourself a challenge to take the first steps into a new health regime of dance? No matter what age you are, you might fall in love with it.

Dancing is great for kids too.

There is clinically significant evidence that children who participate actively in the performing arts spend less time sitting in front of a computer screen playing games and therefore are at less of a risk of developing health problems.

And, while dance is a good source of fun exercise for young children, it is also a creative outlet.

Fun exercise is important but the opportunity to release creativity is as important as exercising and maintaining a balanced diet in the development of healthy children because of the life skills they will learn.

As fun as dancing is, it is easy to forget that it is a workout. Different dances produce different results but they all help to tone your muscle.

Dances such as the jive and salsa are great for cardio and fat- burning, burning up to 600 calories an hour.
