Emily waltzes off with her dream place

Teen follows in mum’s dancesteps

-

Quite literally she has followed in her mum’s dancesteps.

Emily Bolland began her first tentative steps at the Dansarena studios in Ayr when she was just two.

Now aged 18 she’s just been accepted into the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts Vocational College in Epsom in Surrey - widely regarded as the best in Britain and a clear path to the musicals of London’s West End.

Emily’s place has been funded and for the next three years she will take her dance to new levels.

Legions of former Laine students have gone on to star in top shows and movies.

It has thrilled her mum Kerry, who bought the Dansarena empire in Fort Street with her husband Steven three years ago.

Kerry, 49, said: “We could not be more proud of Emily, she has worked so hard and there is much hard work ahead.

“Her aim and dream is to be a dancer on the West End stage.

“She is lucky enough to be given the chance to follow her dream.”

“She won a place at the top college, so they must see something in her.

“Dansarena has been such a big part of her life from well before she started at St Ninian’s Primary in Prestwick, and mine too.”

Kerry completed her dance training at the London Studio centre after training at the Dance School of Scotland.

She danced as a pro before returning to teach at Dansarena, where she was promoted to manager 19 years ago.

Emily’s old dance mistress Karen Mitchell said: “Even at aged two it was quickly apparent she had a natural talent for movement to music.

“This is a tremendous achievement for her.”

Emily left Queen Margaret Academy in June - where her brother Jack, 14, is also a pupil - and will study dance and musical theatre.

Her aim and dream is to be a dancer on the West End stage. She won a place at the top colleage, so they must see something in her
