Auld Kirk

The Auld Kirk of Ayr is open to visitors on Tuesdays between 1pm- 2pm until the end of November.

It was built in 1654 after Cromwell’s forces requisitio­ned the town’s medieval church and seats 900 people.

Access is through the lych gate at top of Kirkport off High St. The graveyard contains a Covenanter­s gravestone and one of Ayr’s seven Heritage Trail benches.

BBQ event

Coylton Parish Church are hosting a family fun day with BBQ games day on Saturday, August 31.

There will be a bouncy castle and prizes for games.

Join in the fun from 11.30am - 3.30pm.

Tickets: £ 10 per family or £ 5 for adult and one child.

Animal time

St Ninians Episcopal Church, Prestwick are holding their annual Animal Blessing service on Sunday, September 8.

This year’s focus is on Guide Dogs Scotland.

Pop along with your pets, working and wild animals to Maryboroug­h Road, Prestwick for 3pm.

Messy fun

St James’ Parish Church will host their next Messy Church on Saturday.

Messy Church is an afternoon of fun, games, crafts and food and everyone is welcome to the free event.

The theme is new beginnings, and St James will also be celebratin­g the Church’s birthday.

Registrati­on at 1.45pm, with the fun starting at 2pm-4pm in the church hall.

Open doors

St Oswald’s Episcopal Church, Maybole are taking part in Doors Open Days.

The rich in history church will be open on Saturday, September 7 from 10am – 4pm and Sunday 8 from 12.30 – 4pm ( Service of Holy Communion at 11.15am).

Refreshmen­ts available. Child- friendly venue.

The church is accessible and an accessible toilet is located in the church hall.
