Ross McDonald ( Kilmarnock Barassie) is the Ayrshire Boys Matchplay champion after beating new Ayrshire Boys champion Kerr Brooks ( Irvine) 2& 1 in the final at Prestwick.

McDonald opened with a 2& 1 win over Christophe­r Hunter ( Ballochmyl­e) to book a semi- final against Fraser Russell ( Royal Troon) who beat Jamie McKinnon ( Caprington) 4& 2.

Brooks beat Harvey McDonald ( Ayr Belleisle) 2& 1 in the first round to meet Harvey Broadfoot ( Welbeck) who had a single hole win over Jack Allan ( Ballochmyl­e). Semi- finals: Brooks beat Broadfoot 3& 1, McDonald beat Russell 7& 5.

McDonald leads the chase for the Ayrshire Junior Order of Merit with 427.5 points after his Ayrshire Matchplay triumph and win in the Belleisle Junior Open.

Good finishes at Turnberry, Ayr Belleisle and in the Tom Lehman at Troon Municipal, as well as a semi- final place in the Ayrshire Boys Matchplay moved Broadfoot into second on 305 points while Ruben Lindsay ( Ayr Belleisle) and Patrick Smiley ( St Nicholas) share third on 250 points.

Prestwick St Nicholas Junior Open is re- scheduled for Sunday, September 8 while the Irvine Junior Open follows on Monday, September 23. • Ayr Dalmilling will make a double title bid at Finals Day at Skelmorlie on Sunday.

They booked their place in the final of the Ayrshire Handicap League Championsh­ip with a 10- 2 win over Beith and look set to face Kilbirnie who hold a 5.5- 0- 5 first leg win over Annanhill in their semi.

In the final of the handicap club team knockout for The President’s Putter, Dalmilling will play Alton.

Ardeer and NB Parkstone will meet in the final of the Ayrshire Fourball Championsh­ip.

In the semi- finals, Frank Grant & Hugh Wales ( Ardeer) beat Alan Glass & Andy Dunlop ( St Cuthbert) 3& 1 while Stuart Wilson & James Mason ( NB Parkstone) beat James Clark & Paul Robertson ( Wallacetow­n) 4& 3.

Holders Royal Troon will play Kilmarnock ( Barassie) in the final of the scratch club team knockout for the Gary Bryden Memorial Salver.

Royal Troon booked their place with a 2.5- 0.5 win over Ayr Belleisle while Kilmarnock Barassie beat Welbeck 2- 1. • Stuart Easton ( Irvine) finished tied fifth in the Scottish Men’s Open Strokeplay Championsh­ip at the Duke’s, St Andrews.

His five under par 279 left him seven shots adrift of the winner Jake Bolton ( Ogbourne Downs GC).

Jack Broun ( Turnberry) had rounds of 70 and 76 to miss the cut by a shot while Ruben Lindsay ( Ayr Belleisle) failed by two after rounds of 75 and 72. • Ayrshire are seeking players to represent the county in the Scottish Seniors Inter Area Team Championsh­ip at Stirling on Thursday, September 26.

The team will comprise of six players, four of whom must be over the age of 55 and all must be over 50. Past president John Rushbury is co- ordinating the team. • Jack Broun ( Turnberry) finished runner- up in the 72 hole North East District Open at Portlethen.

Opening rounds of 69 and 66 gave him a five stroke lead but closing scores of 73 and 75 saw him finish on 283, two adrift of Euan McIntosh ( Turnhouse).

• Scottish boys’ champion Ruben Lindsay ( Ayr Belleisle) qualified for the matchplay stages of the British Boys Championsh­ip at Saunton.

In the two strokeplay qualifying rounds, he fired 70 and 74 for a two over par 144 which saw him among the 64 qualifiers for the matchplay in joint 32nd and with four shots to spare.

However, in his opening matchplay round, Lindsay lost 4& 3 to George Holland ( Southport & Ainsdale).

• Loudoun, Ballochmyl­e, Royal Troon and Prestwick St Nicholas are the four league winners in the Ayrshire Scratch Championsh­ip.

Div One: champions: Loudoun, relegated: Troon Portland; Division One/ Two play- offs: Kilmarnock Barassie v Caprington.

Div Two: champions: Ballochmyl­e, relegated: Ravenspark; Division two/ Three play- offs: Ayr Belleisle v St Meddans.

Div Three: champions: Royal Troon, relegated: Rowallan Castle; Division Three/ Four play- offs: Girvan v Kilbirnie Place.

Div Four: champions: St Nicholas. Home and away play- off matches are due by Saturday, September 14.
