Talbot TV hopes are left in dark

Lack of floodlights puts paid to Cove telly dream

-

Auchinleck have missed out on a third live TV game in nine months – because they don’t yet have floodlights.

Talbot pulled a William Hill Scottish Cup cracker at home to Cove Rangers with help from former Beechwood hero Kris Doolan who made Sunday night’s draw.

The tie was immediately tipped for TV. But BBC Scotland, who will screen one second round game, will stick to their Friday evening slot on October 18, ruling out Auchinleck who have already beaten Ayr and Kelty before the cameras this year.

It’s a re- run of last season’s tie against the big spending League Two leaders when Talbot beat the then Highland League side 2- 1 in a replay.

On Saturday, Talbot begin their chase for a 14th Macron Scottish Junior Cup away to Bellshill. CUMNOCK entertain Rossvale off the back of a 5- 3 win over Benburb. Goals came from Alistair Miller ( 2), Jamie Conn, Paul Burns and Jordan Kemoe.

GLENAFTON, beaten 1- 0 at Kilbirnie, try to bounce back at home to West Calder.

TROON entertain Montrose Roselea after losing 4- 0 at home to Largs. They trailed at the break to a Scott Adam double and then shipped further goals to Stuart Faulds and William Sewell.

CRAIGMARK had the result of the day in the Championship when they beat Arthurlie 2- 1 with goals from Greg Vernon and Aidan Connor to defy McBookie odds of 19/ 5. They want something similar at home to Kilsyth on Saturday.

ANNBANK take on WHITLETTS in a New Pebble Park derby. Bankies crushed Ardeer 6- 0 with goals from Stevie McLelland ( 2), Cammy Ross ( 2), Rory Tait and Lee Sloan.

Whitletts slumped to third bottom of the Championship when they crashed 7- 4 to Blantyre, making it 25 goals conceded in five games.

The hosts raced 5- 0 ahead in 34 minutes but Vics roared back through Robert Patterson ( 2), Stewart Davidson and Thomas Donovan before being killed by two late strikes.

GIRVAN hope Hamilton Park will be playable for the visit of Tayport after they were forced to call off the game against Carluke.

MUIRKIRK kept up the title pressure in League Two with a 4- 0 win over Newmains, their seventh victory in eight games.

A Gavin Hay double and a Lennon Wright strike had them cruising 3- 0 at the break while Nick Aitchison added a late fourth. Muirkirk now visit Blantyre.

KELLO head to Irvine Vics off the back of a 1- 0 defeat at home to Winton. Keeper Ronnie Davis was sent off before Del Kennedy won it from the spot.

LUGAR, who lost 4- 0 to Vale of Clyde to sit fourth bottom of League Two, host Newmachar. MAYBOLE entertain Yoker after losing 2- 0 to Johnstone Burgh.
