It was a weekend of defeats for Ayr with all three league teams losing out.

The Gents suffered away at Dumbarton whilst despite trailing all game there was a glimmer of hope within the last quarter.

The home team, however, used their local knowledge of the carpet to put any comeback beyond Ayr’s grasp finishing up at 93- 66.

Ayr skips first: S Christie 19 M Keenan 19, J Clark 11 K Paton 25, D Shields 10 S Hardie 39, J Seaton 26 M Connolly 10. There is no game next weekend as it is their lie- out week.

There was a home defeat for the Seniors against Paisley ( 55- 64), with S Wyllie’s rink the only wining one, and the Ladies 46- 68 down to Prestwick, Ayr skips first: J Thomson 11- 28, V O’Neill 21- 15, M Kenny 14- 25.

Next weekend the Seniors travel to Coatbridge whilst the Ladies host tabletoppe­rs Lanarkshir­e.

The defeats continued within the Scottish Junior Singles as Greg Wilson lost out at Paisley.

Next Sunday sees further Scottish action in the form of Gents U18’ s and U21’ s where respective­ly Lewis Rennie travels to Dumbarton and Jordan Law to Whiteinch, and also for the Ladies Seniors at East Kilbride. In the Singles, Liz Reid plays Fiona Kerr ( Lanarkshir­e) and in the Pairs Joyce Arnott and Margaret Hutchison play Moira Jamison and Margaret Ronald ( Paisley).

PRESTWICK INDOOR

Prestwick Ladies traveled to Ayr on Saturday and came away with the 2 points after a 68- 46 victory.

Last weekend saw the SIBA Junior Singles play downs take place at Paisley with Ross Gouldstone and Darren Weir represntin­g the club.

Ross had wins over Lanarkshir­e 2, Alloa 1, Ardrossan 1 before losing out 21- 10 to Stephen Lowrie of Glasgow in the quarter final.

Darren has successful­ly qualified through to the semi finals after wins over Allander, Blantyre 2, Inverclyde 2 and Blantyre 1, Darren will now take on Jak Miller of Aberdeen in the semi finals at Auchinleck in January.

This Saturday the Gents are back in league action as they entertain Aberdeen at the Bellevue Road stadium, the gents will be looking to get back to winning ways after a couple of narrow defeats.

The Seniors and Ladies sides are on their travels on Saturday as they take on Ardrossan and Glasgow B respective­ly away from home.

On Sunday the Senior four of Andy McDowall, Alistair Fulton, Stuart Reid and Alistair Smillie travel to East Kilbride to take on the Galleon at 2pm.

The Under 18s and Under 21s play downs will take place at Dumabrton and Whiteinch on Sunday, Ross Gouldstone and Emily Houston will play in the Under 18s with the Under 21s representa­tives still to be confirmed.

Ross Gouldstone will compete in the final of the SYIBA Young Masters on Friday morning at the Dewars Centre against Sophie McGrouther of Abbeyview.

Paul Foster and David Gourlay have won their first matches in the Scottish Open and are back in 2nd round action on Tuesday, with the final scheduled for Friday evening if they get that far.

Colin Smith has been selected for the Over 50s Internatio­nals at Hayling Island in January.
