Christmas by Candle Light - an evening of Christmas Carols and well known Christmas songs will take place in Troon Old Parish Church on Sunday December 15 from 7pm. Soloists areAileen Donohoe and Robert Scott. The Musical Director is Robert Scott.

Tickets are on sale priced £ 10 from Words & Music and The Powder Room.

South Ayrshire Live will come to Troon Library on Monday December 16 from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone is very welcome to drop in and find out informatio­n concerning groups on mental health, activities in the area and plenty of advice relating to health issues.

A Christmas Cafe will be open in Troon Old Parish Church Hall on Saturday December 14 from10am to 1pm.

Tickets on sale at the door - £ 4 adults and £ 2 children.

Tea , coffee and mince pies. Santa makes his appearance at 11am.

Drop in to The Haven Cafe, 9 Academy Street, Troon every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm. This is a new Troon Connect Hub where you will receive advice and support with care and health issues.

Troon Foodbank is open weekly in Room 2 Troon Old Parish Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 2pm.

Tins of meat, fish, vegetables long life milk and juices will be very much appreciate­d. Essential toiletries are always in high demand.

Seascape Befriendin­g Group – Feeling lonely in need of a chat and company?

The Befriendin­g Group will welcome you on Friday mornings in St Meddan ‘ s Church Hall at 10am. Coffee and a hot roll with sausage are on offer free of charge. Have a go at Chess for beginners.

BIRDS Waxwings have been spotted in St Meddan’s Street.

These colourful winter visitors from Scandinavi­a and Russia feed mainly on berry bearing shrubs and trees and are usually found in noisy flocks. Colour – Pinkish brown with prominent crest. Rump and tail feathers grey tipped with yellow.

Marr Cappella will give a Christmas Concert in Portland Church on Wednesday, December 11 and in St Meddan’s Church.
