Voters have their say on their big campaign issues

-

Andrew Eccles, 71, Ayr

I’ve already handed in my voting card and I have voted Conservative.

I would have voted for Nigel Farage but as the Brexit Party aren’t standing it will have to be the Tories to get Brexit done.

I certainly would never vote for Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP. In terms of local politics I have lost hope. Most towns are the same because of that internet shopping. They built that big retail park thing at Heathfield and that hasn’t done the shops any good either. Either way, we are all doomed.

Paul Irvine, 58, Ayr shopper

The feeling on the street is we should give Boris Johnson his place to try and get Brexit sorted.

Boris is doing the right thing to try and get us out of the EU. I don’t necessarily agree with his methods but I agree that he is trying to get the job done what we voted for.

We also need to send the message to Nicola Sturgeon that we still don’t want Scottish Independence.

Sturgeon wants Indy Ref 2 and doesn’t seem to care about anything else. I voted SNP but I’ll be voting for Boris. For 50 year I voted labour, I’m working class but in the last couple of years I changed to SNP. My feeling is let’s just let Johnson do his thing.

Graeme St Clair, 72, Ayr, originally of Glasgow

To be honest none of them have got a clue. There’s just so much distrust. I’m surprised their pants don’t burst into flames all the time, you would be expecting them to be walking about on fire. If they open their mouths a lie comes out, it’s second nature. I’m old enough to remember when politicians were looked up to, but not now. I was a member of the Labour Party, I would never vote Tory. Now I’m SNP because I feel like there isn’t much of a difference in socialist terms. They are doing what Labour should have done for years. But if we get independence that doesn’t mean you are stuck with the SNP. Boris Johnson is an embarrassment.
