Thousands join our fight to save threatened unit

-

The response to our campaign to save Station 15 has been astonishing.

Over 16,000 people have now signed our petition, including 1,712 signatures which have been posted through our letter box.

Despite the daunting thought of sieving through that massive pile of signatures this week, we counted them with pleasure.

Your dedication and commitment to saving our cancer ward has been overwhelming.

Karen Muir, of Ayr’s Gemmell Crescent, single handily went around town and collected over 60 signatures from her friends and family.

A few others have done the same and anyone who fancies collecting a list of names and addresses is welcomed. Every signature counts.

You can also send us your Station 15 letters with your coupon, as Susan Banks of Merkland Road in Alloway did last week.

Susan wrote: I feel very strongly about the plans to move Station 15 patients elsewhere.

“My husband was diagnosed with cancer last June. He needed an emergency operation followed by months of chemotherapy.

“We only live five minutes drive away from Ayr Hospital. During the past seven months my husband has been admitted to hospital five times, attended appointments 31 times and we have called for advice six times.

“We are both pensioners with some mobility issues. I would not have able to be with my husband through these difficult times if the hospital had been further away.

“Thanks to Ayr Hospital we were able to go through these difficult months together. Please reconsider your plans. We need Station 15 and its staff.”

We wont stop fighting to save Station 15 – let’s keep the momentum going. Send your letters and coupons to Nile Court, High Street, Ayr, KA7 1PX.
