Eat, dance and be the difference at gala dinner

- ABI SMILLIE

A fundraising gala dinner hopes to provide others with the opportunity of making a difference in the lives of children and families.

The 10: 10 Trust are hosting Eat, Dance and Be the difference in April to raise much needed funds for worthy causes throughout the region.

Trust director Dylan Harper said: “One in four children live in poverty here in South Ayrshire- we hate this fact but together we can ensure that every family can thrive, eat, play and grow up knowing they are loved by their community.

The Christian non- profit organisation work throughout the community by providing holiday meals support, operating a social supermarket tackling food poverty and food surplus, advice drop in sessions, toddler groups, youth clubs and holiday clubs.

Dylan said: “In 2020 we aim to do all of this and much more including expanding our work to see a new branch of our social supermarket ‘ Kingdom Storehouse’ open in Maybole.

“And see the launch of our Residential

Experience Fund to enable local children - who wouldn’t otherwise be able - the chance to go on a weekend break.

“As we do all of this we will continue to share the love of the King of Kings, and transform our broken communities with love.”

But, to do all of this and more the team need volunteers and funds as 100 percent of the staff are made up of volunteers, meaning every penny raised goes directly to making a difference here in South Ayrshire.

The dinner, held at the Savoy Park Hotel on Friday, April 24 at 7pm, includes a prosecco reception, three course dinner, live entertainment and the chance to take part in a raffle and auction.

Tickets are priced at £ 35 per person (£ 300 per table of ten) and can be purchased by; emailing gala@ the1010trust. org. uk, calling 01292 283018 or drop into the office at 42 Carrick St, Ayr ( upstairs) during admin hours of Mon/ Wed/ Fri 10am until 1pm.

• The 10: 10 Trust are hosting a Service of Thanksgiving this Sunday ( Feb 23) at Castlehill Church, Ayr, at 7pm. The team will reflect on their last year and the service will include a short time of worship and tea and coffee in the fellowship area.
