Global player offers youngsters the chance to shine at plant
A world- leading company is offering ambitious young people a life- shaping chance to succeed in engineering and science as part of its team in North Ayrshire.
DSM, a global player in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, is recruiting for the latest wave of its renowned modern apprenticeship programmes at DSM Nutritional Products site in Dalry.
The schemes are widely recognised as a launchpad for those seeking careers in the science and technology sector. Applications are open for the next two weeks. Spaces on the apprenticeship programmes are highly sought after with DSM Nutritional Products, one of the region’s most prominent companies, employing 349 people at Dalry where the site has been in operation since 1958.
DSM has vacancies on its three- year Process Operations MA programme for those interested in pursuing a career in process operations and manufacturing.
Apprentices will need to pass a level 3 SVQ in Process Manufacturing together with City and Guilds Chemical Process Operations ( level 2 and 3).
The site has a further vacancy on its four- year MA programme in engineering maintenance relating to instrumentation, control and electrical engineering.
Apprentices will complete the SVQ Engineering Maintenance ( Instrumentation and Control) and ( Electrical) together with HNCs in electrical engineering and measurement and control.

Apprentices already training have appreciated the opportunities they have been given.
Hannah Duff, 23, of Saltcoats, works in Vitamin C operations and is in the second year of her training.
She said: “I applied to be a modern apprentice with DSM because I was really interested in science and chemistry, and was looking for a hands- on opportunity to start my career.
“I have really enjoyed working at DSM and I would urge any young person with an interest in science and technology subjects to apply for this great opportunity.”
Ronan Allan, 20, of Irvine, is also a modern apprentice, working in Vitamin B5 operations.
He added: “The company has a bright future in Dalry, and I see a lot of opportunities for me to progress my career through all the development and training available.”
