Kerr says side are ready to front up backlog of seven games in 21 days after Dennis blows hole in league fixture list

- STUART WILSON

Mark Kerr reckons Ayr United can handle their fixture pile- up and roared: “Bring it on.”

The Honest Men face SEVEN games in 21 days during a hectic spell. Saturday’s postponed game with Morton, which Ayr have rescheduled for next Tuesday, February 25, has left them playing catch- up.

But Kerr is confident his newly bolstered squad can live with the pressure.

He said: “There’s a great feeling among the boys at the moment.

“They were gutted when Saturday’s game was called off, even though it would have been ruined in those conditions. “But we met up and trained – and trained hard.

“The run of games doesn’t bother me. We just want to get back playing again.” United kick off a packed schedule at Arbroath this weekend, with Kerr calling on his side to press home their top four aspirations.

He said: “Arbroath have done really well while we haven’t been playing to put themselves in the mix. We know it will be very difficult going up there.

“When we won at Gayfield earlier in the season, the boys were buzzing because it’s such a tough place to go.

“Teams are maybe guilty of underestimating them but you’ll never find us doing that.” Aaron Muirhead sits out the trip to Gayfield through suspension, with his second game of the ban to be served in next season’s

Scottish Cup.

Ross Docherty, Craig Moore and Andy Geggan all remain sidelined with injuries.

United’s Travel Club is on the march to Arbroath, with a bus leaving from Ayr’s Ship Inn at 10am and picking up at Glasgow boozer the Bon Accord.

Seats £ 15 from 07599 289517 or 07599 289514.

Ayr have been handed another TV date at Morton on Friday, April 17 with a 7.05pm kick off.
