We’ll bring the Cheltenham roar to town

-

Ayr Racecourse is opening the Owners’ Bar for the four days of the Cheltenham Festival next week and I will be in attendance chatting to some special guests.

Racing TV presenter Gordon Brown will pop in on Tuesday to give his expert thoughts.

And I know Broonie has been doing his homework big time and will be looking to unearth a few winners on the opening day.

Galston based trainer Mike Smith will be joining me on Wednesday and again Mike knows his stuff, particularly when it comes to horses on the northern circuit.

I’ll have another racing personality with me on Thursday and on Friday one of the most knowledgeable punters in Ayrshire will be giving his views.

‘ The Pied Piper’ aka Willie Piper has been known to back huge priced winners at Cheltenham and is also a dab hand at getting some terrific ante post odds and famously got Might Bite at 33s for the 2017 King George.

I’ve had sight of some of Willie’s notes for the four days and anyone visiting the Owners Bar on Friday will be able to hear his thoughts on all of that day’s races.

The Owners Bar will be open each day of the Festival from 11.30am – 6.30pm.

One horse I thought might be heading for Cheltenham but has been rerouted is the Olly Murphy trained Endlessly who won at Ayr earlier in the year and followed that with another success at Newcastle.

He runs in the valuable Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday and could take all the beating with champion jockey Richard Johnson taking the mount.

This race is always a highly competitive affair but the Murphy horse is still well handicapped and in my mind is the one to beat.

So ahead of Cheltenham grab yourself some punting money with Endlessly.

As ever, it promises to be a fabulous four days at Prestbury Park, so sit back and enjoy.
