NO DAYS OFF

Kerr warns players of hectic schedule

- STUART WILSON

Mark Kerr admits Ayr’s players will be lucky to have a day off over the next month.

But the boss insists his hungry squad are relishing the challenge.

Ayr have kicked off a punishing fixture schedule which will make or break their season.

The player- boss said: “We sat down as a group and had a discussion about what’s coming up. But it was an easy one for the boys – they’re all buying in to what we’re doing.

“They’ll be lucky to have a day off but that doesn’t bother them.

“When you’re a young lad you just want to be out there playing football and we have a great dressing room which is up for the challenge.”

Kerr led from the front as Ayr gained a huge three points at Alloa on Saturday.

“And he hopes a double header against Dundee ( at home on Saturday and away on Tuesday) can yield more points.

He said: “It’s all about momentum at this stage and when you’re playing so many games, you can easily get on a roll. That has to be our aim and although we will have to mix things up and rotate the squad a bit, we know we have the boys to come in and perform.”

Ayr were due in action against Champions- elect, Dundee United, at Somerset last night ( Tuesday).

Ross Docherty and Craig Moore are nearing a return from injury in what would be a huge boost for Kerr.

 The United Travel Club are running buses to Dundee next Tuesday and Queen of the South next Friday.

Seats from the Ship Inn for Dundee are £ 15 ( leaving 4.30pm) and Queens

( leaving 4.30pm) is £ 10.
