Pupils’ music video an online sensation
A school choir have wowed online audiences with their very own music video.
Southcraig School Chowwir’s first- ever music video has been watched over 11,000 times as the songsters performed You Will Be Found from the hit West End musical Dear Evan Hansen.
The uplifting and inspiring video, made as part of Ayr Gaiety’s Open Your Lugs series, hopes to break down any barriers of those with additional support needs.
The school, who educate primary and secondary pupils, joined forces with the Gaiety and other creatives to produce the highly professional piece over 10 weeks.
Class teacher and choir master Fiona Dailly said: “The choir are amazing with what they achieve.
“It’s made up of around 40 pupils from P1 through to S6 of all different abilities.
“You don’t have to sing wto be in it- you can play an instrument or sign or however you like to communicate- as long as you enjoy music.
“So it’s very inclusive.
“It’s a very joyful experience because they’re making friends with others who they might not see day to day- it’s just how friendships should be formed.
In the video, Fiona said: “We get to see these young people come together every week.
“They are growing in confidence and their energy, enthusiasm and happiness just rubs off on all of the staff who are working with them and it’s a very joyful experience.
She added: “This is us- we are who we are. We want our young people to achieve; we want our young people to be included.
“We want to break down any barriers and tell the world, the community, that this is us.
“And we’re very proud of who we are.”

The Gaiety Creative Learning lead artists on this project were Lydia Davidson and Manjot Sumal, and the man behind the lens filming was Ruari BarberFleming.
