approached by producers last year and asked if they wanted to highlight Michelle’s case.

Lisa said: “They wanted to interview us about our own first hand experiences of losing a family member and loved one who had been domestically abused and murdered.

“They also wanted anted to tohighlight highlight the Michelle’s Law campaign and the lack of rights for victims of crime.

“We gave this a lot of thought before agreeing to participate as it was not easy for any of us to do.

“My mum [ Josephine] could not take part as she found it too distressing.”

Lisa said by sharing Michelle’s story they hope the government and parole board will “consider the emotional harm it causes families when they release these murderers back into their areas”.

She added: “We also want to hig highlight to people the import importance of raising concern if they feel fe themselves or anyone theyk they know is suffering domestic abuse abuse, and the importance of getti getting help before it is too late.

“Michelle M was not so lucky and unfortunately it cost her her life- at only 17 years old. “Although we were s c e p t i c a l a b o u t pa participating in the programme at the time, it has given us the chan chance to share what sort of person Michelle Mic was before John Wilson decided he would take her life. Hopefully by highlighting Michelle’s story and the Michelle’s Law campaign we can help others and prevent more people becoming victims of domestic abuse.”

• Michelle’s story will be aired on Wednesday, March 25 at 2pm on STV.
