Easter at Dean is all about outside

Get ready for some outdoor Easter adventures as the Countrysid­e Rangers plan fun activities from Tuesday April 7 – Sunday 16.

There is willow weaving, survival shelter and food for free sessions to name a few not to mention a fun family Easter hunt!

Delve deep into the murky depths of our wonderful ponds at Dean Castle this spring. Come along on The Big Dean Dip, nets and know- how provided by the Rangers. Sessions are on April 7, 1pm and 2.30pm, £ 3 per child.

On April 8 you can help our bees and butterflie­s by making wildflower seed bombs and recycled paper pots to grow your very own mini wildflower meadow. Sessions are at 1pm and 2.30pm, £ 3 per child.

Join in some practical willow weaving in the park on Thursday 9 April at 1pm as we carry out maintenanc­e on our willow maze. Enjoy a hot drink whilst we learn about this traditiona­l rural skill and have a go at weaving a willow fish to take home. £ 5 per child

Follow the Rangers into the depths of the Dean for a Survival Shelters session to learn about natural shelter building and fire lighting worthy of withstandi­ng the harshest Scottish weather. Discover Dusk at the Dean, the world of the elusive nocturnal creatures that inhabit the Country Park as the sun goes down. Bat detectors are provided but please bring a torch and wear warm clothing. Meet at the main car park. Wednesday 15 April at 8pm, £ 4pp

Tickle your taste buds with Food For Free as we go foraging and look up some delicious woodland recipes. Learn how to identify safe plants and flowers to eat from nature’s larder. Join us for a feast at 1pm on April 16, £ 5 per child
