Help for bereaved

A leading cancer charity are set to provide trauma relief to bereaved families as well as NHS frontline workers and carers.

Bereavement specialists Ayrshire Cancer Support are reacting to the COVID- 19 crisis by extending their counselling services.

They are now offering free specialist short term trauma and counselling support services to those bereaved, or working on the frontline because of the colossal grief caused by a coronavirus death.

Louise Graham, head of Services for Ayrshire Cancer Support said: “We understand the significant grief caused by a COVID- 19 death both to families, carers and to frontline NHS workers which is why we are offering specialist short term trauma and counselling support to those who need it throughout Ayrshire.

“If you have been bereaved or are working in the frontline NHS and would like support, please call us on 01563 538008. We are here to help.”

The charity have also set up a designated COVID- 19 trauma fund to deliver this service which can be found on their Facebook page. Email fundraising@ ayrshirecs. org or call 01563 538008.

Troon Fishermen’s Mission is on standby to help struggling boat crews.

And Paula Daly, Fishermen’s Mission Port Officer in Troon said: “You are not alone.

“We are still here to help you. If you are a fisherman on a UK boat, a retired fisherman, or a member of a fisherman’s family please do not hesitate to contact us.

“These are very difficult times and the support we can give you may make all the difference.

“We will always be there to help and may be able to offer further financial support and access grants for you. Together, we can get through this crisis.”

As the effects of the coronavirus grip, the Troon base says it is well placed with expert knowledge.

Port Officer Karen Burston added: “We can help if fishermen are struggling with money worries or feeling isolated and alone.

“Times are tough for fishermen and their families at the moment so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
