Scumbag raiders have left me with nothing

A young dad had his flat ransacked by sick thieves who left nothing but their own faeces on his living room floor.

And devastated Dylan Cope says: “I just want to warn folk that there are people going about doing this.”

The 22- year- old made the grim discovery when he went to check on his home after deciding to stay at his girlfriend’s place during lockdown.

When the unemployed dad- of- one arrived he found that his door had been broken down and all his belongings including a couch and hundreds of pounds worth of guitars had been taken.

To add insult to injury, the raiders even ripped up his one- year- old baby’s medical documents and a memory box filled with cherished photographs was nowhere to be seen.

Dylan told the Post: “Everything was everywhere. There was human faeces and condoms everywhere and all my wean’s stuff was ripped to shreds.

“All his medical documents and his wee clothes from when he was a newborn have all been vandalised, it’s horrible.

“I’ve lost everything. All my furniture, all my guitars, everything I’ve ever kept since I was in care– it’s all gone.

“Folk have obviously been staying there as well because they have left their quilts and empty beer cases in a bag at the door.

“It’s just gutting – I’m disappointed more than anything else. In a time like this you would think people would come together but then there are folk that want to do this to people.”

Police confirmed they are investigating the break- in, but due to social distancing rules they aren’t able to come out to view the damage to the Westwood Crescent property in Ayr.

The council have nailed his door secure – but Dylan doesn’t plan to be back there any time soon.

He said: “Once this is all over I’ll be taking whatever is left down there and properly moving into my partner’s place.

“I’ve stayed in that flat since 2017 and it’s a quiet area – everyone is really nice, but I just wouldn’t feel safe there anymore, especially with my son there.

“Usually, I stay there with my boy – what if I was staying there with him and they just booted the door down? That would have been terrifying.

“I just want folk to know that there are people that are going about doing this.

“Apparently, the fence outdoors was marked, so they are obviously targeting empty properties during lockdown.

“I hope this makes folk keep an eye on their homes and make sure everything is locked up all the time.”
