And Phil McNeish, 74, of Ayr, said he was “appalled” by the state of the streets and land around his hometown, adding: “The council is not doing their job properly, otherwise we wouldn’t have the problem.”
We recently highlighted the Heathfield Road area of town as a particular hotspot.
Agnes McAllister, 68, said: “Heathfield Road is probably one of the worst areas but there are hotspots all over Ayrshire.
“These are the actions of desperate idiots who clearly have zero concerns for the environment. ”
Last week we featured a particular problem of domestic rubbish being dumped on the banks of the River Ayr, while a stretch of Uplands Road, near Coylton, has also been hit.
Now it seems that the car park at Oswald House, on the grounds of Auchincruvie Estate, has become the area’s latest victim.
As our picture shows, it seems a tradesperson has discharged a bucket, bag of compost, tin of paint, plastic bags and other rubbish. Bizarrely, they have also discarded an IKEA invoice which has a name and local address on it.
A council spokesperson said: “It is unacceptable to simply drop litter, fly- tip or dump rubbish and we would reiterate that anyone found to be deliberately breaking the law faces an £ 80 littering fixed penalty notice, or a £ 200 penalty for fly tipping.”
