We are at a pivotal point in pandemic
Stay home, protect the NHS and save lives - that is still the Scottish Government’s message at this time. Covid- 19 is the biggest challenge we have faced in our lifetimes and the measures we take to deal with it must reflect its magnitude.
As you will know, there has been only one recent change to the restrictions in Scotland and that is the once- a- day limit for exercise has been removed whilst still maintaining social distancing rules.
All other guidance and restrictions remain in place.
There is evidence that we are seeing progress and we must stick with it.
The difficult sacrifices we are all making are working, however, this progress remains fragile.
The margins for ensuring the virus does not take off again remain tight - we are at a pivotal point.
From this week there has been an update from the four UK Chief Medical Officers regarding the symptoms of coronavirus.
Alongside a new continuous cough
OR fever, emerging data and evidence means that the CMOs are adding a loss or changed sense of normal smell or taste ( Anosmia) to the list of symptoms.
If you have any of these symptoms, you should continue to follow the current guidance which is that your household should self- isolate for 14 days and you should stay at home for seven days, or longer if you still have symptoms.
The NHSinform. Scot website has all the latest up to date information.
My constituency office remains closed but staff continue to work remotely and can be contacted on 01290 425876 during normal office hours or by getting in touch via my website at jeanefreeman. scot.
Please note that during these unprecedented times, it may take longer to respond to queries as cases will be prioritised based on assisting those most in need first.
I would like to extend my thanks once again to all NHS, social care and front line key workers during these challenging times.
Thank you.
