Troon legend Dougie back on familiar soil
Dougie Ramsay has handed Troon a major boost by returning to Portland Park.
The former Motherwell and Ayr United midfielder, who is hailed as one of Troon’s most successful ever captains, will join the coaching team in the new season.
Ramsay, 41, has remained a cult figure among supporters after skippering the team to back to back promotions. He was recently named in Troon’s ‘ Team of the Decade’.
Dougie will join Dean Keenan, Marty Fraser and Andy Smyth on the coaching team under manager Jimmy Kirkwood.
Troon have signed keeper Ross Lundy from Largs to replace shot stopper Scott Johnstone who has retired due to work commitments.
Leaving the club are John Gemmell, Andy Strachan, Dylan Pooler and Evan Maley.
Scott Chatham, who joined the club 12 years ago, is among those signing new deals. Others staying include Dean Fulton, Mark Morrison, Ross Barbour, Jack Sherrie, Jaime Gallagher and Raymond Montgomerie.
GLENAFTON have signed Anthony McParland as playercoach. Celtic, Barnsley, Wycombe, Livingston, Queen of the South, Queen’s Park, Arthurlie and Irvine Meadow are among his former clubs.
Glens have added Maley from Troon.
Leaving Loch Park is Ryan Nisbet along with David Wilson, Matthew Reilly and Gabe Skeoch whose loans have expired.
CUMNOCK have handed new deals to Paul Burns and Jamie Conn.
GIRVAN’S players’ player of the year was Adam Caldwell.
Top scorer was Craig Harvey while Kieran Balfour was player of the year named by the committee and fans.
