Mystery vanishing of rainbow loveheart

Residents baffled by bright sign’s disappearance

group of neighbours.

Lynne said: “We got the pallet from one of our neighbours. Then we had to borrow a jigsaw from another neighbour. Then the boys and I painted it.

“Everybody was quite keen to see it.

“It was right at the very beginning of the lockdown and it gave us all something to do because we were all going ‘ rainbowtastic’ at that point, weren’t we?

“It was good fun and it helped us during the lockdown. Sometimes you think you’re not really creative at all and don’t have an artistic streak, but I really liked all the painting and all the drawing.

“We don’t know who’s taken it; they might have done it for a laugh. Who knows? It’s one of those things.

“One of my neighbours said you’ve just got to think it’s someone that’s needed the love and joy more than us.”

The residents are now taking the ‘ disappearance’ on the chin.

One theory is that a sneak thief has made off with it, others think the local authority may have removed it. The council is looking into it.

Lynne said: “We spoke with one of the leaders at the Craigie Community Group because I wasn’t sure we were allowed to put something like a rainbow loveheart on a tree- as it may be council property.

“But it was suggested that it would be okay. There must be a law to do with 28 days. If it’s placed for more than 28 days then I think you need permission.

“During the early days of the lockdown everyone was a bit frightened and worried and you just wanted a wee bit of joy.

“But where has this loveheart rainbow gone? I guess we’ll need to get going with another idea now.”
