Nursery given gold star by H MI

-

A large nursery in Ayr has been rated as “very good” by inspectors - which is the second highest score achievable.

The Care Inspectorate had no official ‘recommendations for the Dalmilling Cherry Tree Early Years Centre in its latest report.

Inspectors noticed the council-run nursery, which can take up to 150 children, had “cosy and inviting areas” to help children learn and small sinks at the right height for kids to hand wash.

Staff were seen helping children to develop relationships, friendships and understand routines and boundaries.

Praising the ‘well organised’ outdoor play area, inspectors said: “We observed very happy children exploring the environment.”

Nursery employees were described as “friendly and caring” and praised for working together to provide a safe and nurturing place for youngsters.

The report said management had a “hands on” approach, which meant they had good relationships with staff.

The Care Inspectorate report said: “Children throughout the service were observed as confident, happy, and engaged, accessing all areas. We saw some good opportunities to develop children’s curiosity, enquiry, creativity skills inside and outside.”

The centre scored ‘very good’ in quality of care and support, quality of environment and management and leadership. Quality of staffing was rated as ‘good.’
