Two seriously hurt as bus smashes into tree

Two passengers were seriously hurt after a bus smashed into a tree during a three-vehicle road crash.

The Stagecoach bus was carrying five passengers during the collision on the A713 at Waterside.

The driver and a passenger of a Land Rover Discovery were taken to Ayr hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened last Sunday at 12.20pm on the road between Patna and Dalmelling­ton.

The bus windscreen was shattered with the impact of swerving into the tree and there was debris all over the road.

A spokeswoma­n for Stagecoach West Scotland said:“A car was in collision with one of our vehicles around 12 noon yesterday on the A713 at Waterside, Ayrshire.

“Thankfully, none of the five passengers on board our vehicle or our driver was seriously injured. Safety is our absolute priority and we are helping Police Scotland enquiries into the circumstan­ces of the accident.”

A Police Scotland spokespers­on said: “We received a report of a three vehicle crash on the A713 near Patna, around 12.20pm on Sunday, July 5

“The collision involved a Stagecoach bus, Land Rover Discovery and Toyota Avensis.

“The driver and passenger within the Land Rover Discovery were taken to Ayr Hospital with serious but non-life threatenin­g injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
