A plan to enlist the aid of young people to do general housework, gardning, shopping and other odd jobs for old folk, was given the unanimous approval of the Old People’s Welfare Committee at their monthly meeting in the Club Rooms, Prestwick.

The volunteers would be issued with work cards by their school supervisor, which would permit them to work between 9-11am and 2-4pm.

Already a group of girl pupils at Prestwick Academy have offered their services.
