Scrapparkingcharges

-

So the return of the parking enforcement officers has angered the public and politicos alike.

Yet for three long years the manifesto commitment from the SNP locally to abolish all car parking charges across South Ayrshire has never materialised.

Was it the coalition partners who stopped them implementing their promise or did officers of the council say they could not abolish the charging regime as it was such a money spinner?

But at least this year at some point in the last council budget in March they gave authority to the Ayrshire Roads Alliance to embark on a consultation of the future of car parking charges across South Ayrshire timeframe before the next year’s council budget in March 2021,by which time there will be hardly a shop left in Ayr town centre to visit or in any other town across the council area.

If you think that the manifesto commitment given in 2017 by the ruling SNP group should be implemented contact your local SNP councillors to ask them to provide you with the reason they failed to deliver the promise they made to get your vote.

And say to them they do not need another consultation as they themselves recognised that car park charging in South Ayrshire should go.

Given town centres are on the brink of oblivion anything that would encourage businesses to remain in town centres needs to be tried so get on Facebook , Twitter and email and give the council your views now and perhaps, just perhaps, a decision could happen quicker because the longer it takes the more dire the situation becomes.
