Apparently Ayrshire Roads Alliance, those public sector superstars who can’t fix

potholes and gave us the splendid Holmston Road cycle path, are minded to put anti jumping fences on the New Brig, an idea which for stupidity is up there with the Douglas Campbell Memorial Pool, the Brian Connolly Golf Academy, and the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

What’s next? Close the beaches to stop people walking into the sea?

The lunacy of our local authorities seems to be boundless.

I suggest anyone who thinks this one is a good idea should jump first to prove the need.
