Monday action provides clues

Racing behind closed doors continued at Ayr on Monday with some of the horses on show certainly worth putting in the notebook, writes Iain Ferguson.

Danny Tudhope rides the track as well as anyone and the Irvine-born jockey should his prowess once again on Lagenda when gaining first run on Great Colaci in the QTS Investors In People Handicap and winning for trainer Liam Bailey at tasty odds of 9-2.

Another highly experience­d jockey is Graham Lee and he steered Paver’s Pride to take the opening race at 13-8.

Breaking well he made every yard of the five furlongs to win impressive­ly and the six year-old should win again.

The two year-old Star of Emaraaty shaped well in the EBF Stallions’Fillies Novice Auction Stakes for trainer Kevin Ryan and jockey Kevin Stott.

This youngster won by a neck at odds of 2-1 from the Mark Johnston debutante Party Spirit and a step in trip from seven furlongs to a mile could suit.

Travel Lightly (5-2 fav) timed her run to perfection to collar Royal Countess, a winner last week, to land the Jordan

Electrics Classifies Stakes for trainer Tim Easterby and jockey David Allan.

The form of this race should work out and I’d back Royal Countess again as Mike Smith’s horses are in such good form.

There was drama in the last race on the card, the Microtech Odds On For It Support Handicap, when Mamdood clipped heels and fell bringing down both Bollin Neil and Question Of Faith.

Thankfully all horses and jockeys involved escaped unhurt.

The eventual winner was Ezanak, a 16-1 chance ridden by Paul Mulrennan.
