Open will go behind closed doors

The world’s top female golfers will descend on Royal Troon next month but nobody will be there to cheer them on.

The R&A intends to play the AIG Women’s British Open from August 20-23 without spectators.

It will be the first women’s major championship to be played this year and will be broadcast globally to an audience of millions.
