Questions raised of the company’s financial management

- PAUL BEHAN

Digital Kitchens and Bedrooms was once owned by Prestwick businessman Craig Bryson.

But tragedy struck the family-owned firm in 2018 when Craig, described as an “inspirational dad, devoted husband and driving force in the business world” died aged 47.

Now its collapse has prompted people to question the financial management of the firm since Craig’s passing.

“Craig was a great guy, he worried about how his employees were treated,” said one insider.

“I don’t even know if the company is going to pay my redundancy. I have been told to claim it through the government. It’s a scandal.”

Current records at Companies House lists William Bryson as company director. Wages were paid through the‘Firm of William Bryson’but that name does not appear on Companies House.

Although the company name is The Art Import Direct Ltd, it’s understood that entity is not directly related to the kitchen company and was the one involved with the former McCoo brand which went bust last year.

The Post has learned that Insolvency Practitioners, Grainger Corporate Rescue & Recovery, were poised to move in as Administrators, pending the completion of paperwork this week.

We did approach them for a statement but the firm has not responded.

One associate of the current Digital Kitchens owner John Martin- his wife Lynne Bryson- registered KB3 Ltd, a new company, on May 29. The Post has again approached the Digital Kitchen owners for comment.

Another unhappy customer, left out of pocket, spoke about the possibility of a new entity springing up.

He claimed:“This being approved allows these people to do the same thing that they have done to myself, my partner and other Digital Kitchen customers.

“I’m currently in contact with Trading Standards. They (Digital Kitchens) have thousands of pounds of customers’hard earned cash.”

A council spokesperson said:“Our Trading Standards Team is in place to advise on and protect the rights of consumers. Trading Standards will offer advice and assistance to South Ayrshire residents and investigate any complaints received.”
