Road closures ahead on the A713

Sections of the A713 road from Ayr to Dalmelling­ton and the A70 from Cumnock are to close due to resurfacin­g work.

The works will commence on Monday and will prompt the closures “over a number of weekends,” say The Ayrshire Roads Alliance.

Location 1- A713 between Hollybush and Polnessan. Work on this section is due to start on Monday and will continue for three weeks. Road closures will be in place from 8am to 6pm on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday 2 , Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, 9 and Saturday, August 15 and Sunday 16.

An alternativ­e route will be signed via B730 to Coalhall, A70 to Coylton, B742 to rejoin the A713 and vice versa.

There will be no access to, or from, the adjoining C21 Craigs Road during the weekend road closures.

Location 2- A70 between Cumnock and Muirkirk (work on this section is due to start on Monday, August 3 and will continue for up to three weeks).

Road closures will be in place from 8am to 6pm on Saturday August 8 and Sunday 9t, Saturday August 15 and Sunday 16 and may also be required on Saturday August 22 and Sunday 23

An alternativ­e route will be signed via B743 to Mauchline, A76 to Cumnock before re-joining the A70 and vice versa.

here will be no access to or from the adjoining U731 Greenock Water Road (section from A70 Nether

Wellwood Farm to B743 junction) during the working hours. Location 3- A70 between Muirkirk and Glenbuck (Work on this section is due to start on Monday, August17 and will continue for up to two weeks).

Road closures may be in place from 8am to 6pm on Saturday August 22 and Sunday 23 and on Saturday August 29 and Sunday 30 .

An alternativ­e route will be signed via B743 to Strathaven, A71 to Stonehouse, B7078 to re-join the A70 near Douglas and vice versa.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance will ensure that the A70 locations are not closed at the same time.

Emergency access will be maintained during the closures.
