Building for the future is the key at McConnachies

-

Company owner Alasdair McConnachie is continually recruiting for more staff to keep up with the demand. The additional team members required will bolster an already 30 strong team.

Alasdair always ensures that any new team members are filtered into the current teams to allow him to assess their capabilities, enabling him to offer his customers, new and old, the high standard that he demands.

“We have a healthy order book, taking us well into 2021”, explained Alasdair. Due to the issues with Covid- 19 this year, many projects that were current and planned were unfortunately struck with delays, due to these unforeseen circumstances.

However, with this highly skilled team, they have endeavoured to make up time, where possible still allowing them to book in more building projects for the remainder of this year.

McConnachie Ayr Ltd are currently keen to speak with time served joiners and bricklayers in the hope that they can continue their expansion, yet still offering competitive rates at all times.

They have embraced the changes forced upon them during this difficult year and have continued to be diverse in both the types of work they carry out and how they do them.

All their staff were offered additional training at the end of lockdown, giving the confidence to both them and their loyal customers.

Alasdair commented: “We succeed in keeping all our staff interested by being able to offer varied and interesting projects over the course of the year, ranging from new builds, barn conversions, extensions and maintenance — both domestic and commercial and a selection of plumbing and heating works”.

McConnachie Ayr Ltd can offer further reassurance to their customers with the numerous accreditations they hold.

Albeit these are changed days for Alasdair, back when he was an apprentice joiner, working in London for his father’s company. These were formative years where he was able to build his knowledge working on some fantastic construction projects.

This has enabled him to build a team with some fabulous trades people, many of which he has been long- term friends with.

So, what does the future hold? “I am keen to continue on this successful path, one of which I enjoy,” said Alasdair.

“I do not see the growth as being a short- term thing and I am confident that we will continue to strive in our local marketplace.”

As suggested, it would appear that McConnachie Ayr Ltd can carry out pretty much any task you may have. From start to finish, the service you will receive will always exceed your expectations.

From your first point of contact with

Hilary and Helen in the office to the site surveying, carried out by Alasdair or Grant in the estimating department, and finally the professionalism offered to you by the team of highly skilled trades people.

As the team grows, the focus has not solely been on time served individuals. A huge investment has been put into the current five joinery apprentices and one plumbing/ heating apprentice, all of which are at varying stages of their apprenticeships.

Alasdair’s aim is that one day these individuals will be full- time trades people within the organisation.

Another recent addition to the team is Grant, our trainee Quantity Surveyor, who is in his second year at Glasgow Caledonian University.

As you will see from the above, these guys must be at the top of your list for all your building needs.
